General Khalifa Haftar’s Libyan National Army has announced it has sent more of its troops to the Libyan southern borders with Mali, Niger and Chad. The Libyan capital of Tripoli remains calm with military checkpoints having been set up earlier this week after clashes between the Libyan National Army and forces of the Government of National Unity broke out in Ghadames near the Algerian border. An EU delegation is also mediating between parties.
Meanwhile, the Government of National Unity in Tripoli has expelled 2 Egyptian Embassy officials from the country over Egypt’s invitation to Benghazi’s Prime Minister Osama Hammad to visit Cairo.
The clashes of the Libyan National Army with the forces of the Government National Unity have coincided with an announcement by the EU Delegation to restore the Ghadames border crossing with Tripoli’s government.
