Here’s the Malta Blue Books imports and exports section of 1938, but I’m posting this mainly for the interesting selection of sources of food imports. Of course, there is the overwhelming presence of Britain and the British Empire.
Importing food in Malta during the Second World War was a very gruelling task and convoys had to navigate dangerous waters filled with German U-Boats apart from having to avoid aerial attacks.
Note as a bonus the interesting 44 pounds British Pound Sterling import of gold from Tunisia which stands out by itself. Maybe a Maltese repatriating his wealth before the war?
