Man going to rehab is trying to dump a violent Pitbull on unsuspecting animal lovers

I’ve said this many times and I will keep saying it repeatedly. Pitbulls, Rottweilers and other dangerous dogs have no place in domestic homes of highly dense urban areas like Malta. It doesn’t matter what you think or how much you love dogs and animals and this is not a matter of opinion.

Pitbulls have an innate genetic predisposition to attack and kill other dogs. You can mitigate their genetic predispositions with training and education but you can’t erase hundreds of years of genetic predisposition by good-boying your pet. Anyone who says otherwise has no idea about dogs.

Sure, many Pitbull owners may have a good experience with their pet and they may say that “my Pitbull is very sweet and is not violent at all”, but this is not the overall reality of these dogs. Let me say it again for those who haven’t understood this well: Pitbulls have a genetic predisposition to attack and kill other dogs.

Earlier this week I went on a Facebook post and complained how a man who is going to rehab is trying to dump his Pitbull on unsuspecting animal lovers. As soon as I wrote my complaint, the usual animal lovers who know very little about dogs, came in and criticised me for being an evil animal dog hater and whatnot. The usual story. I own a dangerous dog and Pitbull Staffie mix, and it even sleeps on my bed, but it doesn’t mean I allow the dog to meet strangers. I own it (it was rescued) because I know that it will attack and kill a wild pig/hog or wild dogs if I ever encounter them by coincidence (the dog lives on a farm in a forest). The dog did spring into action once against a pack of wild dogs, and although the pack had at least half a dozen members, they scuttled away in fear at the sight of this monster charging toward them full speed ahead. I also never trained her to be aggressive, but her genetic predisposition to attack other dogs and animals is alive and well.

Back to the Facebook thread. After I was criticised by the animal lovers, lo and behold, the man’s ex-girlfriend chimed in and revealed that the dog is actually dangerous and had bitten her at least three times. She posted pictures of the large bruises on her back and told us that the dog was trained by its owner to attack people because the owner had incurred many debts due to his drug addiction.ย The whole thread has since been deleted but I have a copy of the original advert.

Now, this guy wants to dump his dangerous dog to unsuspecting animal lovers.

Wonderful.

PS: There’s nearly always something wrong with a man who gets a dangerous dog unless the dog has an actual and legitimate job to do.

  1. People have an innate and violent disposition after centuries of war, violence in multiple forms etc. Yet somehow we manage to coexist. Training is everything, so yes, with knowledgeable training pit bulls can be integrated.

    1. Humans don’t have a genetic predisposition to go to war. They have genetic predispositions to survive if they are hungry via foraging and hunting, but not to arm themselves to war – that’s something we have learnt through time.

      1. Chimps also go to war ….

Mark: It is not in their genetic predisposition, they learned it by time and these wars are growing due to scarcity of resources. Pitbulls have a genetic predisposition to attack and kill other dogs because they were literally created and bred as fighting dogs – that’s the genetic predisposition.

What is it with these rough sorts and their obsession with intimidating looking dogs? Would the feel emasculated being seen with a border collie or Italian greyhound?

    1. The Pitbull has had its ears cropped to look scarier. Serious red flag. Should also be illegal.
