The request to prohibit discourse about Yorgen Fenech’s culpability came from his lawyers

The Court has accepted a request by Yorgen Fenech’s lawyers to prohibit any discussion about Yorgen Fenech’s ongoing case regarding his alleged murder of Daphne Caruana Galizia. The Court order was issued following a video talk by Emmanuel Delia on the local news website Newz.mt.

Judge Edwina Grima has consistently ruled against press reports and leaks on Yorgen Fenech and the ongoing case regarding the murder of Daphne Caruana Galizia. She also issued an investigation order on the leaks by Mister Ranger who has now gone offline.

Despite the legal situation, my position on this issue is that it is the duty of the press to inform the public of matters that are in the public interest. The trove of evidence collected about Yorgen Fenech included his chats with Rosianne Cutajar which once published triggered her resignation and also a police investigation.
