Charlon Gouder and the Malta and China Blue Fin Tuna deals

Yesterday, Supreme Leader Robert Abela was true to form as he inaugurated a Maltese export deal to China for Bluefin tuna. Present with him was also Peng Yijun, charge d’affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Malta.

The deal is between Malta Fish Farming Ltd. and Shandong Marine Group, and according to the Chinese press, Charlon Gouder seems to have helped broker it. Charlon Gouder is currently in business with Joseph Muscat selling Maltese residence and passport schemes to Chinese citizens, but he is also a lobbyist and a representative of the local tuna industry.

Yesterday, the inauguration of this deal was held in front of the fishing vessel called Ocean Star. I couldn’t find anything yet about this ship online yet, but there are similar ships to it with the same name.

The Shandong Marine Group are mainly involved in marine industry services so I am assuming they will be delivering the tuna themselves to China. Malta Fish Farming Limited is owned by Salvu Ellul and was also present at the ceremony.
