According to an article by The Malta Independent, the government is introducing amendments to the Extradition Law that state that the suspect has to be informed of their rights before making a decision on whether they would challenge or accept to be extradited. The law will also be applied retroactively on those currently expecting to be extradited, and therefore it will give Daniel Meli a chance to challenge his extradition. Daniel Meli was expected to be extradited to faces charges in the United States for cybercrime.
The legal amendments have also been agreed upon by the Nationalist Party.
