The United Nations Interim Peace Keeping Force in Lebanon has issued a statement saying that the Israeli Defence Forces have fired at the UNIFIL positions in the south of Lebanon. They targeted a UNIFIL bunker at the UN1-31 outpost and also shelled the outpost UN1-32A. Two UN peacekeepers were injured due to the IDF’s shelling.
These are not the outposts where Maltese soldiers are stationed. Members of the Maltese Armed Forces were stationed at UN6-52 which the IDF previously used as a human shield. The IDF’s units around the outpost were then removed.
