Yesterday’s protests at MCAST Colleges

Yesterday, there were various students protests held simultaneously at the both the main MCAST Campus in Kordin and at Mosta’s MCAST Institute for the Creative Arts. MCAST students were protesting the current deadlock in the collecting agreement negotiations between the Ministry of Eduction and the Malta Union of Teachers. Teachers were protesting in solidarity with their lecturers after the MCAST administration suspended negotiations and told the union to take about the matter to an industrial tribunal.

Times of Malta footage of the event can be found here including an interview with student protest leader Emma Fenech Brownrigg. You can also download the students’ statement here.

A protest by the Malta Union of Teachers was also held recently.
