The Israeli Defence Forces shell UNIFIL positions in Ramya, Lebanon and use chemical gas against peacekeepers

Yesterday, Israel has shelled UNIFIL’s position in Ramya Lebanon. Two UNIFIL peacekeepers were wounded after two Merkava tanks fired at the gate of the UNIFIL base and entered the base. The base is manned by troops from Ghana.

After refusing to withdraw from the base, the Israeli platoons and withdrew and fired gas canisters into the baseย  cuasing injuries to some peacekeepers.

US Secretary of Defense Lloyd J Austin mentioned the incident to Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant with Israeli facing no repurcussions for the attack.
