The Armed Forces of Malta issued a statement stating that its members in Lebanon in the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon are safe and unharmed following several Israeli attacks that targeted UNIFIL peacekeepers.
An Israeli tank fired on a UNIFIL base injuring at least one peacekeeper on 6 March in al-Qawzah (Bint Jbeil district, southern Lebanon), when Israeli tank fire hit a UNIFIL base, injuring peacekeepers. Around 15 March gunfire struck a UNIFIL position near Meiss el-Jebel, injuring a Nepalese peacekeeper.
This is not the first time that Israel targets UNIFIL peacekeepers.
