Georgia’s election mired in fraud and violence by the ruling-party: both sides claim victory

Georgia’s opposition party, the United National Movement, has claimed victory in an election mired in fraud by the pro-Russian ruling party, Georgian Dream. Widespread violence against election officials and observers has been recorded including the stuffing of ballot boxes. An electoral observer in the 69th precinct in Marneuli was beaten after recording ballot box stuffing, while other reports of violence against electoral officials were reported in the capital, Tbilisi.

The counting of votes is ongoing.
