Previous Sudanese Prime Minister Abdalla Hamduk had to abandon his talk at Chatham House in London, mid-speech as he was heckled by Sudanese protestors. Hamduk who flew to London from the UAE where he currently lives, is loathed by the Sudanese for having legitimised the UAE-backed Rapid Support Forces (Janjaweed militias) during his tenure.
Abdalla Hamduk was the Prime Minister of Sudan between 2021 to January 2022 before he was forced to resign in the backdrop of massive protests in Khartoum for having compromised with military leaders and General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan in civilian rule.
Political views in Sudan have shifted since then, with the current leading general and de facto ruler of Sudan, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, enjoying wide support by the population in his current war and pushback against the RSF.
The Rapid Support Forces have escalated their war crimes and violence against civilians following recent military setbacks against the Sudanese Army.
