Malta interim head coach Davide Mazzotta has named a 27-man roster for two pivotal November fixtures at the National Stadium, signaling an important moment in Malta’s ongoing UEFA Nations League journey.
Fresh off a 1-0 triumph over Moldova in their last outing, Malta is riding a wave of momentum. They’ll first square off against Liechtenstein in a friendly on Thursday, November 14, at 19:00, using the match as a preparatory tune-up before facing Andorra on Tuesday, November 19, at 20:45–a fixture that could prove crucial for Malta’s ambitions in Nations League Group D2.
The Andorra clash holds particular importance, with Malta still vying for top position and potential promotion in the Nations League standings. Malta and Moldova are currently neck-and-neck on six points each, adding intensity to the final group games.
Mazzotta’s selection features Western Sydney Wanderers midfielder Dylan Scicluna, who earns his first senior call-up after appearances with Malta’s U-19 and U-21 teams. The squad also sees key returns for players previously sidelined by injury, including Carlo Zammit Lonardelli (Floriana), Enrico Pepe (Gzira United), and Steven Pisani (Sliema Wanderers). Myles Beerman, also of Sliema, is back in the fold after missing the October squad.
Yet, Mazzotta will have to cope without Jodi Jones, Luke Montebello, and veteran defender Steve Borg, all of whom remain out with injuries. Despite the absences, Malta’s depth and recent form, which includes two wins from three Nations League matches, provide hope for a strong November showing.
Tickets for both fixtures are now available, giving fans a chance to support Malta’s potential promotion push and catch the friendly against Liechtenstein live.
