Bishop Galea-Curmi leads Thanksgiving Mass for University of Malta graduates

A special Thanksgiving Mass for the University of Malta’s newest graduates was celebrated on Tuesday evening at St. John’s Co-Cathedral in Valletta, led by Bishop Joseph Galea-Curmi.

In his homily, Bishop Galea-Curmi reminded graduates that life’s purpose lies in serving, loving, and giving generously to others, a path he described as essential to achieving fulfilment. He urged them to view their professions not as avenues for personal gain or superiority over others but as callings to serve with respect, dignity, and love, as taught by Jesus. “This spirit of service is what gives meaning to your work and brings peace to your life,” he said.

Bishop Galea-Curmi also encouraged graduates to resist material temptations, such as greed, organised corruption, environmental degradation, and any actions that harm Malta’s beauty. He called on them to take accountability, so they may never feel regret for actions against their principles.

The Bishop concluded by wishing graduates well in their future endeavours, whether seeking employment or continuing their studies, and prayed they find strength in God’s guidance to contribute positively to Maltese society.
