The Health Ministry and Malta Union of Midwives and Nurses (MUMN) have introduced a new 1400 hotline to streamline urgent medical care across Malta.
This service, operated by healthcare professionals including trained nurses, will assess callers’ medical needs, prioritising cases and directing patients to the most suitable emergency facilities.
The 1400 hotline is not intended to replace the 112 emergency line but will work alongside it, enhancing care coordination through telemedicine. MUMN members will receive specialised training to support the service, and a public awareness campaign will inform citizens on when and how to use 1400 for optimal benefit.
