Early Saturday morning, police were alerted to a traffic accident on Dawret il-Qalb Imqaddsa Street in Birżebbuġa at around 2am.
Preliminary investigations by police officers revealed that a 24-year-old male had lost control of his Toyota and crashed into a wall. After emergency personnel arrived on the scene, the driver was taken by ambulance to Mater Dei Hospital, where it was subsequently confirmed that the individual had suffered severe injuries.
Police are looking into the circumstances behind the accident.
