Maltese driver involved in fatal crash in France was reportedly driving a UK-to-Malta vehicle for Christian Borg

The Maltese man involved in a motorway crash in France which killed a woman and her two children was reportedly driving a car registered in the UK and en route to Malta for Christian Borg.

The fatal accident happened on the A26 motorway near Gavrelle, Pas-de-Calais, last Saturday. The Maltese driver, 52, crashed into a French woman, Laetitia Savary, 42, and her two sons, Naรซl and Yanis, aged 8 and 10, who died instantaneously.

Initial investigations showed that the man, who was under the influence of drugs, was driving at high speed at the time of the collision. He was admitted to hospital with serious injuries and later taken into police custody in connection with involuntary manslaughter.

The vehicle was reportedly being transported from the UK to Malta on behalf of Borg, a well-known autodealer and who is at the heart of an organised crime investigation.

The French authorities are still investigating the accident.
