According to the Prime Minister, Rosianne Cutajar doesn’t need to pay back the money she received over her fraudulent contract with the Institute of Tourism Studies because according to him, the Commissioner for Standards in Public Life didn’t ask her to do so. Of course he didn’t because back then the Standards Commissioner George Hyzler referred her case to the Police for an investigation and the Police Commissioner shelved the case until the related charges became time-barred.
The wife of the previous Tourism Minister had to pay back the money she received from her fraudulent consultancy position after her public contract was found to be in breach of ethics by the Commissioner for Standards in Public Life and the Parliamentary Standards Committee, but she was also awarded a 30% discount from the government over what she had to pay back.
Rosianne Cutajar enjoyed a period of privilege during which she filed vexatious lawsuits and police reports in response to the publication of her history and relationship with Yorgen Fenech, even after being referred for police investigation by the Standards Commissioner. However, as she is currently being investigated by the police for money laundering, it seems that justice may finally catch up with her, as it is with Clayton Bartolo, and she too might be held accountable for her excesses and impunity as a politician.
