UPDATED: I can’t believe I am writing this, but the Labour Party literally libeled and defamed its own Deputy-Leader and the Deputy Prime Minister by attributing a quote to him that he did not say.
Deputy Prime Minister and Deputy Leader of the Labour Party, Ian Borg, was tasked by the Party with holding a press conference to criticise Jason Azzopardi. However, it appears he did not mention Jason Azzopardi at all.ย Someone sent me the link to the press conference and told me that Deputy Premier never said anythingย about Jason Azzopardi. I watched the clip and replied back to the person saying “That the Labour Party can’t be falsely attributing the quote to him, and he would surely have said those words probably as he replied to a question”. The person who contacted me, who was also saw the press conference live, replied that Borg didn’t even say those words after or whilst replying to questions.
Bizarre. Of course, I contacted my Labour contacts about this who all told me that they didn’t want to be quoted about it and don’t want to speak about it. That’s enough for me to conclude that Borg is actually being intentionally defamed by someone in the Party, probably by the communications office of the Prime Minister. In fact, the quote was completely out of his character considering the line that he has been taking.
I will be pressing my contacts to explain to me exactly what happened here, but this surely doesn’t look good on Labour. They are trying to sabotage their own Deputy Leader by literally libeling him with fake quotations, how do you expect anyone to take this Party seriously? Literally stuff of a criminal organisation.
