I don’t understand why my Labour Party contacts would want to try to suppress the incredible story of how the Labour Party defamed its own Deputy Leader when the facts are actually public record.
Previously, communications, PRs, speeches and press conferences were all vetted by Aleander Balzan. Aleander Balzan resigned from his role when the new Prime Minister’s Chief of staff, Colonel Mark Mallia expressly told him that he would have to follow his orders. This was said in the context that despite the fact that Aleander Balzan was only responsible for communications, he had even more sway and influence. When the Prime Minister reorganised his government administration, he wanted to ensure that his command structure was strengthened without having orders changed down the line by powerful and influential individuals. Aleander Balan didn’t accept these new conditions.
Norma Saliba is Aleander Balzan’s replacement: the new Labour Party Communications Chief and she vets all the PRs, speeches, and press conferences before they go public. She is also responsible for the Labour Party’s social media accounts, so she would have been the one to defame her own Deputy Leader with a script that she wrote herself and that she passed on to him. Deputy Leader Ian Borg didn’t read the script provided to him by the Labour Party, but the script was attributed to him anyway on their social media page.
This event comes during the same time when Jason Azzopardi was arraigned in Court, under pressure by the Justice Ministry, for filming inside the Court building. The Office of the Prime Minister is ending the year with a coordinated attack against one of its fiercest critics.
