Deputy-Prime Minister Ian Borg is off-script again saying things that the Labour Party’s Communications Chief hasn’t approved. In an interview with NET News, the Nationalist Party’s propaganda outlet, Deputy-Prime Minister Ian Borg said that the Government needs to work with the Opposition to curb corruption. He skirted away from trying to defend the government’s corruption scandals.
Having taken his role as Foreign Minister quite seriously, compared to his Labour predecessors, the Deputy Prime-Minister can avail himself from the Party’s control by being frequently abroad, although that also means that his opinions are thoughts are not necessarily being shared enough with the rest of his Labour colleagues to have any effect on the Party’s policies or direction. This is also, probably by the Prime Minister’s own design. It gives the appearance that in Labour there is a moderate faction, which is true, but in reality this faction has little effect on the Party’s policies.
