Yesterday evening at around 7:45pm, police were alerted to a traffic accident on Dawret il-Gudja, Gudja.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the accident involved a collision between a Skoda Fabia, driven by a 50-year-old man from Gudja, and a stationary Ford Fiesta, which had been parked on the roadside due to a flat tire.
During the impact, a 29-year-old man from Birลผebbuฤกa, who was standing near the vehicles, was injured after being trapped between the two cars.
Medical assistance was given to the victim from a medical team and he was transported to Mater Dei Hospital by ambulance. ย He was later certified to have sustained serious injuries and in a critical condition.
Magistrate Ian Farrugia was informed and launched an inquiry into the incident. Civil Protection Department personnel were also on-site to assist.
Police investigations are ongoing.
