Bormla Subbuteo Club Shines in Italy and Belgium

This weekend, the Bormla Subbuteo Club proudly represented Malta at the Rewind Cup Grand Prix in Reggio Emilia, Italy, delivering strong performances in both the individual and team competitions.

Individual Success

In the Open event, Bormla’s Austrian star, Wolfgang Haas, claimed the title after an intense final, defeating Gasperini 2-1 in extra time. Haas also triumphed in a thrilling semi-final against Italian player Giudice, winning 5-4 in a match that stood out among the 52 competitors.

Other notable performances included Josef Camilleri, who reached the quarter-finals, and Jean Carl Tabone, who advanced to the last 16, showcasing the club’s depth of talent.

Team Event Performance

In the team competition, Bormla Subbuteo Club advanced to the quarter-finals after finishing second in their group with two wins and one loss. The quarter-final match against Salernitana ended in a 2-2 draw, but Bormla was eliminated due to a narrow one-goal difference.

The Bormla team comprised George Ebejer, Jean Carl Tabone, Josef Camilleri, and Wolfgang Haas, who all displayed exceptional teamwork and sportsmanship throughout the tournament.

Bormla Subbuteo Club Triumphs at Belgian Grand Prix

Bormla Subbuteo Club continued their remarkable run of success by clinching victory at the Belgian Grand Prix in Eugies. In a thrilling final, Bormla defeated Spain’s Tiburones 3-0, securing their third tournament win of 2024 and maintaining their position as the number one Subbuteo club in the world.

Dominant Performance

Bormla dominated from the start, winning all four matches in Group 1. They carried their momentum into the semi-finals, overcoming Rochefort before capping their campaign with a commanding final victory. This latest triumph marks five consecutive months at the top of the world rankings.

The winning team consisted of Charles Aquilina, Jason Pisani, George Ebejer, and Bessim Golger, who all delivered outstanding performances throughout the tournament.

Individual Success

In the individual competition, Bessim Golger advanced to the semi-finals, adding to the club’s achievements in Eugies.

This victory further solidifies Bormla’s reputation as a dominant force in the Subbuteo world, with their sights set on maintaining their global supremacy in the months ahead.
