Relatives and friends of Chris Bonello, a 29-year-old police officer who was seriously injured in an accident on Friday, are appealing for people to donate blood as his condition remains serious but stable.
The accident happened on Dawret il-Gudja at around 7.45 pm, when Bonello, who was off duty, arrived and was fixing a punctured tire of a Ford Fiesta. He was hit by a Skoda Fabia and was urgently taken to Mater Dei Hospital where he is receiving intensive care.
Several friends are appealing for prayers, while others are urging for blood donations, especially when the Blood Bank at the weekend warned that the reserves of O Positive and A Positive blood are low, which may lead to the cancellation of operations.
