The draw for the Round of 32 and Round of 16 of the Meridianbet FA Trophy was conducted on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at the Centenary Hall. The event was presented by Stephen Azzopardi, Director of Football Operations at the Malta FA, alongside former Malta national team player Andrew Cohen and Meridianbet representative Byron Falzon.
Premier League Teams Enter the Competition
The Round of 32 sees the introduction of teams from the Malta Premier League, joining the winners of the Meridianbet FA Trophy Preliminary Round. The six top-tier teams that finished in the highest positions during the 2023/24 season–Hamrun Spartans, Floriana, Sliema Wanderers, Marsaxlokk, Birkirkara, and Naxxar Lions–were seeded in this stage.
Adding to the competition, the Semi-Finalists of the National Amateur Cup—Mellieha SC, Victoria Hotspurs, Attard, and Qrendi–also joined the fray. Two of these teams earned their place by winning their Preliminary Round ties, while the other two advanced automatically.
