Actual and visceral attacks

One of the only entities in Malta that articulate and propagates visceral attacks against individuals is the same entity which is always complaining about them: the Labour Party. Short of anything meaningful to say, especially after handing over our national heritage at Fort Chambray to local developers for free, the Labour Party needs to find strings to cling to for its new visceral attacks, the latest being against Police Commissioner John Rizzo.

This website was the first news site which broke the news that the latest police officer being investigated over the police leaks to drug traffickers was the son of previous Police Commissioner John Rizzo. We thought that this was information which should be made public knowledge. At the same time, we don’t think that this fact, and the behaviour of his son, puts any dent into the integrity and legacy of the previous Police Commissioner John Rizzo. You can also read about the history of Police Commissioner John Rizzo here.

Note, that I am familiar with a lot of the bad behaviour of the sons and daughters of government ministers and Labour politicians and I never used this against them. Private histories with previous partners gone bad, etc… Even when the EU Commissioner herself had her son hauled to court over drug charges, no one cared. The Nationalist Party didn’t use the case to attack Labour either. It’s only the Labour Party that uses family members and private affairs to attack its adversaries or critics.

Being the son of the Police Commissioner doesn’t absolve you from any crime, however the Labour Party is making the Police’s case more difficult by politicising it – another striking example of the Labour Party’s hypocrisy as it always preferred not to discuss ongoing court cases for fear of politicising or jepordising them. If this case wasn’t politicised at all by Labour, it would have appeared that the Police actually do a good job in investigating any of their members indiscriminately irrespective of their connections they hold.
