Various protests unrelated to each other have taken place in Syria during this week. Yesterday, residents and young people from Damascus gathered at Umayyad square to demand a secular state. The protest comes after protests took place in Latakia against the appointment of HTS governors in the city.
Meanwhile, there have also been protests in Kurdish-held cities by Kurds, such as Qamishli in support of the Kurdish armed forces, the Syrian Democratic Forces. Kurds are preparing for an imminent major attack by pro-Turkish forces as they no agreement with the new Syrian leadership was reached.
Protests in Syria, especially in Damascus are a rare sight after the previous regime used the army to shoot down protests that were started during the Arab Spring of 2011.
