Israeli soldiers fired at Syrians in Daraa protesting against Israel’s occupation of southern Syria. The Israeli Defence Forces also admitted it shot at protesters. The protests took place in Yarmouk, Mariya and al-Kuwayya, in the Daraa region where Israeli forces are present. Isreali forces also detained two Syrian protesters.
Israel invaded Syria occupied several areas and villages around the Golan Heights, including Mount Hermon following the fall of the regime of Bashar al-Assad.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the Israeli forces will remain in Syria indefinitely until an agreement is reached with the Syrian government, although the Syrian leader Ahmed al-Sharaa has already stated that Syria will not be used by foreign powers to attack Israel, neither will Syria go to war against Israel.
Different protests are taking place across Syria following the fall of the Assad regime as different parts of Syrian society voice their demands and aspirations in the Syria. Rallies for a secular Syria were held which were also attended by previous regime supporters, while Kurds are protesting in support of their armed forces.
