Today, the President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola commemorated the victims of the terrorist attack on the French satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo. She described the terror attack as an attack against the liberty of expression that united the word in solidarity and resilience, also adding that “It is in this spirit that we are guided against hatred and terrorism”.
On the 7th January of 2015, two Muslim brothers born in France of Algerian descent, stormed the offices of the satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo and fired on all of the employees. Nine artists and journalists were murdered along with another employee of the company, a security officer, and a police officer. The Muslim brothers targeted Charlie Hebdoย for mocking Islam and the prophet Mohammed.ย Charlie Hebdo is a satirical newspaper mocking most established religions and politicians.
