The local football world is in mourning this morning after yesterday’s tragic event in which Alejandro Brincat, a 25 year old player for Vittoriosa FC died tragically in a horrific car accident.
Brincat was driving in the Central Link Road close to Balzan at around 920pm when for some reason, he lost control and the car slammed into a barrier and an traffic sign pole. The vehicle ended up suspended with the driver being succumbing to his injuries shortly after.
Vittoriosa Stars posted a heartfelt tribute on their Facebook page

“It is with profound sadness that Vittoriosa Stars FC announces the tragic passing of our beloved player, #99 Alejandro Brincat. This is a heartbreaking day for everyone connected to the club–players, staff, and supporters alike.
Alejandro was more than just a teammate; he was a gentleman in every sense, admired and respected both on and off the pitch. His dedication to the team, his sportsmanship, and his kind-hearted nature made him a cherished member of our family. His absence will be deeply felt not only by those of us at Vittoriosa Stars FC but by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
The loss of Alejandro is a heavy blow to the entire football community, and we extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and loved ones. Our thoughts and prayers are with them during this unimaginably difficult time.
Alejandro, our #99, will always remain in our hearts. May he rest in peace”.
Brincat also recently played a game and came on as a substitute for Vittoriosa Stars in their 4-1 victory over Rabat Rajax on Sunday.
