Israel has conducted airstrikes and military operations in Gaza despite signing a ceasefire which officially will come into force next Sunday along with the commencement of the exchange of hostages and prisoners. Israel has also continued to demolish houses in the north of Gaza where it previously planned to set a permanent occupation zone. Yesterday, the IDF issued a statement saying 50 bombings were conducted.
The IDF conducted a military incursion in Rafah and airstrikes were conducted in Gaza City. Al-Qassam Brigades have claimed that one of their hideouts where they are keeping an Israeli female hostage was hit by an airstrike. The IDF is currently also conducting operations in the West Bank having stormed the towns of Bazaria and Al-Mughayyir.
The ceasefire conditions that Israel has accepted from Hamas have been on the table for a long time, but Israel opted to accept the deal that Hamas offered just days before Donald Trump is to be inaugurated as President of the United States. In a recent interview given to Lawrence O’Donnell, outgoing-President Joe Biden denied that President Donald Trump had any involvement in the attainment of a ceasefire deal between Israel and Hamas.
