Minister for Foreign Affairs Ian Borg met with President Donald Trump during his inauguration ceremony. The Minister, who was part of an exclusive list of European government officials for the ceremony, also briefly met the new Secretary of State Marco Rubio during the inauguration.
The only European government dignitary present, aside from Minister Borg, was Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. Other foreign dignitaries present were Argentina’s President Javier Milei and El Salvadorean President Nayib Bukele.
A host of far-right European politicians were invited including Spain’s Vox leader Santiago Abascal, Nigel Farage and AFD’s Alice Wiedel although she did not attend the ceremony citing her busy political campaign back in Germany.
