Opposition Leader Bernard Grech writes message in solidarity with President Zelensky

Opposition Leader Bernard Grech joined European government and political leaders yesterday with a message of public support for Ukraine’s President Zelensky after President Zelensky was talked down at a live press conference by President Donald Trump and Vice-President JD Vance. Incumbent Nationalist Party Secretary-General Michael Piccinino, who will handover his position to Charles Bonello, retweeted the PN Leader’s statement and said that the party stands with the people of Ukraine.

The Nationalist Party has consistently sided with Ukraine over the invasion of its country by Russia, and also supports the Russian Opposition.

Prime Minister Robert Abela did not offer his solidarity with President Zelensky, nor did Deputy Prime-Minister Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister Ian Borg, although Malta’s Foreign Minister has consistently stated that Russia should withdraw from all occupied Ukrainian territory. Malta’s Foreign Minister was also one of the few European Foreign Ministers who attend President Trump’s inauguration.
