A 24-year-old Mtarfa man died in a tragic traffic accident in Luqa last night.
The incident occurred at approximately 9:00 pm when the victim driving a BMW, lost control on Triq l-Ewwel Titjira. The vehicle crashed into the central strip barrier before colliding with a concrete structure on the opposite carriageway.
Police, an ambulance team from Mater Dei Hospital and members of the Civil Protection Department were called on the scene immediately. The driver was pronounced dead on site.
A 24-year-old male passenger, also from Mtarfa, was taken to Mater Dei Hospital, where he was later certified to have sustained serious injuries.
Magistrate Joe Mifsud launched an inquiry into the accident, appointing a number of experts to assist him in his investigation. Police investigations into the incident are still continuing.
