Brigadier of Armed Forces of Malta Clinton O’Neill suspended over stolen drug-haul: Home Affairs Minister Byron Camilleri offers his resignation

The Brigadier of the Armed Forces of Malta Clinton J. O’Neill has been suspended after an incident that happened earlier today involving 200KG of cannabis resin that were stolen from a container at the AFM’s barracks in Safi. The Police arrived at the scene around 3AM in the morning after the AFM informed them that there was a break-in.

The container is the Court’s property and the drugs were used as evidence in Court. The AFM was storing the container at the barracks in coordination with other authorities. The drug haul is worth up to โ‚ฌ1 million in street value.

The Home Affairs Minister Byron Camilleri said that he has offered his resignation despite having nothing to do with the incident. It is unclear whether the Prime Minister has accepted Minister Camilleri’s resignation.
