Just a few days after we broke the news that a police officer sabotaged his own case against the notorious drug-trafficker and car-rental businessman Christian Borg, a group of criminals broke into a military base and stole up to 200KG of cannabis.
Police Inspector Gabriel Micallef isn’t a novice in irregular behaviour. He was previously fired from the Police after having allowed a convicted prisoner to travel to prison from the Court’s building by bus. Despite this gross infraction, Gabriel Micallef was hired back with the Police. This was also not his first infraction. He was once also suspended for being accused over tempering with evidence in the Paul Sheenan case.
Apparently, Prime Minister Robert Abela, acting in his typical Supreme Leader character, may have found a very useful idiot in Gabriel Micallef by having him protect his previous business partner Christian Borg. If Gabriel Micallef is not investigated or at least suspended by the police over his latest “mishap,” the Police Commissioner is quite clearly tolerating gross incompetence that verges on the criminal.
Gabriel Micallef may be used as an example of a compromised police officer whose mere presence in the authorities creates many risks. Having many Gabriel Micallefs in the police, the military and the intelligence services is a recipe for serious national security risks. We are currently experiencing these risks unfold in real-time as we see our military bases broken into by some very basic and incompetent criminals.
