Byron Camilleri is to remain as Home Affairs after the Cabinet of Ministers showed unanimous support in him, he said in a Times of Malta interview. The Minister also said that earlier today, the Police have apprehended some suspects involved in the robbery, but the Police haven’t yet released a statement about this. Previously, the Minister tendered his resignation after a team of robbers broke into a military base and stole up to 200KG of cannabis. The Brigadier of the Armed Forces of Malta has been suspended.
Apparently, no one is concerned about the national security implications of having our defense and security forces in such disarray. The Prime Minister and the Cabinet of Ministers show their unwavering support to this circus and the Opposition seems to be bringing back from the dead “the war on drugs”: something I haven’t heard about since the days of Police Commissioner John Rizzo.
Nothing really makes any sense anymore and we have actually entered Banana Republic territory.
