The Prime Minister has successfully decapitated the authorities and the security entities to allow widespread impunity for his Labour associates and ultimately for himself. The result is that we now have a situation where our national security can be at risk due to the rampant dysfunction of the authorities.
A cabinet meeting is currently ongoing, but there is no sign yet that the Prime Minister has accepted Byron Camilleri’s resignation. It’s very unclear what’s going on, and we should have never been in this situation. The absurd political games to play with the rule-of-law have to stop right away before something serious happens as a result. Do we have a Minister of Home Affairs right now that is reporting to work? Maybe, we should start asking these questions.
The Prime Minister is as usual making a complete fool of himself as he shows, once again, that he is unable to handle a crisis with the sense of maturity and leadership that is required. He has reduced this crisis to a personal issue about Byron Camilleri, when the real question is whether we have national security or if we are a Banana Republic. The Prime Minister needs to grow up and start seeing things from a wider perspective.
