Three hospitalised after two separate traffic accidents in Mellieħa and Ħamrun

Three people were hospitalised following two separate traffic accidents that occurred yesterday, one in Mellieħa and the other in Ħamrun.

The first incident took place at around 2:15 pm on Triq il-Marfa, Mellieħa. Preliminary investigations by the police indicate that a 50-year-old woman from Rabat, Gozo, lost control of her Toyota Ractis and crashed into a streetlight pole. A 29-year-old man, also from Rabat, Gozo, was in the vehicle with her at the time of the accident.

The second accident happened at approximately 11:45 pm on Triq il-Kappillan Mifsud, Ħamrun. According to initial reports, a 23-year-old man from Santa Venera sustained injuries after being hit by a vehicle while riding a Suzuki motorcycle. The driver of the vehicle reportedly failed to stop and left the scene.

Emergency medical teams provided assistance at both sites, and all individuals involved were transported to Mater Dei Hospital by ambulance for medical treatment. Later, doctors certified that the woman and the motorcyclist suffered serious injuries, while the passenger in the first accident sustained only minor injuries.

Police investigations into both incidents are ongoing.
