Joseph Muscat withdraws libel case against lawyer: publishes statement saying he was not involved in murdering Daphne Caruana Galizia

Disgraced ex-Prime Minister Joseph Muscat withdrew his libel case against lawyer Christian Grima over comments in which Grima claimed that Muscat was responsible for the murder of Daphne Caruana Galizia. Joseph Muscat withdrew the libel case as Christian Grima was asked to present the evidence in Court over his claims where he planned to bring Joseph Muscat’s close associates including his previous Chief of staff Keith Schembri to testify in Court.

Joseph Muscat justified his withdrawal by stating that Christian Grima admitted in court that he never claimed Muscat commissioned the murder but held him responsible based on the public inquiry report, which concluded that the State was indirectly responsible for her killing. Joseph Muscat also said he is ready to drop his libel case against the family of the murdered journalist if they acknowledge results of the Magisterial Inquiry about Egrant. The Daphne Foundation replied by stating that they won’t be blackmailed and that they neither have access to the evidence of the Magisterial Inquiry which includes testimony provided by Daphne Caruana Galizia herself.

Following this statement, Joseph Muscat published another statement saying that he was not involved in the murder of Daphne Caruana Galizia because he sought the help of the FBI and a Dutch forensic team to aid in the investigation of her murder.

Christian Grima also released a statement saying that Joseph Muscat had previously challenged his claim in Court that Muscat had created a culture of impunity that led to the murder of the journalist. This was also the conclusion of the public inquiry.

I am very curious about this ” contacted the F.B.I. ” declaration. Is the FBI not responsible for local USA crimes, whereas for foreign issues one needs to contact the C.I.A. ? Or am I wrong ?
