It is unclear what the Secretary of State intended to convey, but Secretary Marco Rubio stated that the US will expel visa-holders who pose a risk to its foreign policy.
US authorities have been detaining Europeans at the border, barred entry to a French scientist for expressing views against President Trump, and also bullied a German national to give up his Green Card after he was identified over past petty-crime offences.
It is unclear whether Secretary Rubio’s statement refers to visa-holders who pose a risk to US national security or simply to individuals who have previously expressed a public or private opinion against President Trump.
The U.S. government is ramping up its expulsions of illegal immigrants from the country, but it has also increasingly taken an aggressive stance against European visa-holders trying to enter the US.
