Massive 7.7 magnitude earthquake in Myanmar leaves hundreds of casualties

A 7.7 magnitude earthquake in Myanmar around 50km West of Mandalay has left hundreds missing who are presumed dead. Search operations are currently underway.

The death toll has risen to 144 although many more are expected to be found in coming hours.

The earthquake was also felt in Bangkok, Thailand which has also reported casualties. A massive search and rescue operation is currently underway in Bangkok where a skyscraper under construction has collapsed.

There are reports of fires breaking out in Mandalay that are hampering relief efforts.
