It seems that the lies of Alex Borg on Fort Chambray are catching up with him as NGOs opposing the Fort Chambray project released a strong rebuttal of Alex Borg’s claims.
I also missed his claim that Fort Chambray was used as a holiday spot by the Knights of Saint John, and thus, supposedly justifies the handover of the Fort to property developers and turning it into another Tigne point. Fort Chambray was originally designed as a fortification and its construction started in 1749, commissioned by the Governor of Gozo Jacques-François de Chambray. It wasn’t a holiday resort, but actually intended to become a fully-fledged citadel equivalent to the citadel in Rabat. This plan never materialised.
If the government had followed the original plans by the Knights, Fort Chambray would have been a project aimed at the public and at strengthening Gozitan small businesses, rather than a gift to a handful of developers.
