Malta targeted by foreign cyber attacks during OSCE Meeting – Glenn Micallef

In an interview on the public broadcaster, the Maltese EU Commissioner Glenn Micallef stated that Malta was targeted by foreign cyber attacks during its recent international peace conference. The last international conference in Malta on “peace” was the OSCE meeting. Glenn Micallef is the EU Commissioner for Youth, Culture and Sport.

He made the comments as an example as to why Malta should be investing in defence and that investing in defence does not necessarily mean purchasing weapons: an argument that the Nationalist Party has been making against the Prime Minister’s partisan rhetoric.

Just weeks into his tenure as European Commissioner, Glenn Micallef is already dropping his previous partisan rhetoric to adopt a more European tone. It is yet to be seen whether Glenn Micallef will keep up his newfound European beliefs when he comes back to Malta to pursue a local political role.
