Stories in the press of threats to the Standards Commissioner by the Prime Minister can be confirmed by The Maltese Herald. The government has been clamping down on the Standards Commission due to several investigations that the commission had started on various MPs from both political parties.

The Standards Commission also rejected an investigation into the declaration of the Prime Minister’s assets over a technicality. The investigation was in relation to a story, originally published by The Maltese Herald, which investigated the discrepancies of the declarations of assets by the Prime Minister.
