The Maltese national pool teams enjoyed an excellent second day at the 2025 Blackball Nations Cup, notching up seven victories out of ten matches across various categories. The tournament, which brings together elite teams from across Europe and beyond, is being held in Bridlington, England.
Comeback Kings: Men’s Teams Impress
Malta’s Men’s A team showed nerves of steel, claiming two dramatic 13-12 comeback wins against Wales A and England A. Both matches saw the Maltese trailing before launching spirited fightbacks in the final frames to snatch victory and maintain their strong campaign.
The Men’s B team also had a successful day. They edged Scotland B1 in another nail-biting 13-12 match and then comfortably dispatched Northern Ireland B with a dominant 16-6 win.
Seniors Dominate Belgium, Fall Short Against Scotland
The Senior A team cruised to a 15-10 win over Belgium A, displaying tactical discipline and consistency. However, they couldn’t replicate that performance against a well-drilled Scotland A side, losing 16-9.
Meanwhile, the Senior B team were unstoppable against Belgium, putting in a commanding performance to secure an 18-7 victory.
Mixed Bag for Masters Squad
In the Masters category, Malta A had a challenging outing. They fell 15-10 to Scotland and suffered a narrow 13-12 defeat to Ireland, both matches going down to the wire. However, they bounced back later in the day to beat Shetland 15-10, showing their fighting spirit and resilience.
