Two arrested in Marsa traffic stop after police find suspected cannabis and cocaine

A 25-year-old man from Santa Venera and a 24-year-old woman from Bormla were arrested during a routine traffic inspection on Triq is-Salib tal-Marsa on Saturday afternoon.

Police had stopped a Kia Picanto as part of standard traffic checks. During the interaction, the driver’s behaviour raised suspicion, prompting officers to ask him to step out of the vehicle. A personal search led to the discovery of a significant amount of cash.

A further search of the car and the woman’s bag revealed several packets containing a substance suspected to be cannabis, along with another packet believed to contain cocaine. The substances were found under circumstances that suggest they were not intended for personal use.

Magistrate Antoine Agius Bonnici was informed of the case and has launched a magisterial inquiry.
