Two arrested in Paceville drug trafficking bust during routine police patrol

The police’s ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking led to the arrest of two men during Thursday night in Paceville.

During a routine patrol in the popular nightlife area, police officers noticed a man acting suspiciously while working as a bouncer at a venue on Triq San Ġorġ. Officers continued to monitor his movements, eventually following him into a restroom, where they caught him red-handed with four suspected cocaine sachets in one hand and a card payment machine in the other.

Inside the restroom, two other individuals were present, one of whom was seen using the payment machine to process a card transaction.

The suspect, a 21-year-old Serbian national working as a bouncer, was arrested on the spot. Further investigation revealed that the card machine allegedly belonged to the venue’s DJ, a 34-year-old Libyan man.

Police proceeded to arrest the DJ, and a search of his belongings uncovered a second card payment device, along with a number of empty sachets, all of which were confiscated.

Police investigations into the case are still underway.
