Ever since Assistant-Commissioner Fabian Fleri has been promoted as head of the Financial Crimes Investigation Department, the FCID has not launched any major new investigations, particularly into financial crimes in politics or large-scale organised financial crime. Ongoing investigations on the previous Minister Clayton Bartolo have been led by the FIAU but the Police will be arraigning the suspects in Court.
The new head of the FCID has also taken over direct responsibility over several cases previously overseen by Inspector Wayne Rodney Borg. Currently, the Head of the FCID should supposedly be compiling evidence for the 17 Black case after charges against the suspects have been filed.
Fabian Fleri is also a known Labour Party supporter, and he has yet to make his mark at the FCID.
