Tax-Xalluwa Café Bar closes down

The gravy train appears to have ended for former Tourism Minister Clayton Bartolo and his wife, as they have closed down their small private business Tax-Xalluwa Café Bar, which was potentially opened using illicit proceeds the Minister may have obtained during his time in office.

The Minister is currently being investigated by the Police over money-laundering and fruad of public funds over a contract awarded to an Italian cyclist. The Police are expected to charge Clayton Bartolo and his girlfriend to Court over the embezzlement of public funds over a fake contract to the Minister’s wife.

Their assets were also frozen under the current and ongoing investigation in what was an unprecedented move by the authorities over a previous Minister and a Labour MP. The Prime Minister defended his Tourism Minister until a Police investigation prompted by an FIAU report compelled the Prime Minister to fire his Tourism Minister.

The investigation is ongoing.
